Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan (ACSDA) held a round table on “9/11 terror: let’s think together”. As we know, the terror acts happened in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 in the US, New York caused a terrible shock all over the world. This bloodstained tragedy changed people’s attitude to terror and terrorism. It became obvious that terror is not a mean to achieve a goal, but an inhuman method for making people to live in threat, stress, in short, for setting up alarm. Just for this reason, the forces struggling against terrorism set up Anti-Terror Coalition. Azerbaijan, facing Armenian terror several times, also joined the mentioned Coalition. To stop and to prevent from terrorism is one of the debatable issues of the mankind.

 “One of the activities of our diplomats is to increase awareness of international community about Nagorno Karabakh conflict”, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev addressed the third Congress of heads of diplomatic missions and consulates, APA reports. The President noted that diplomats had more responsibilities on the implementation of the country’s foreign policy successfully. He called the officials of Azerbaijani embassies in foreign countries to make close cooperation with state institutions of countries, where they function and provide information about Azerbaijani realities and make efforts directed in the security of political and economical interests of the country.

 Karabakh Liberation Organization (KLO) has approved the last draft of document entitled Unified Position to Eliminate Consequences of Armenian Aggression toward Azerbaijan. “We think there is a need in Azerbaijan for this document. That is, peace talks should end and military operations should be launched,” Akif Nagi, chairman of KLO said to TrendNews on 7 July. The last draft of document entitled Unified Position to Eliminate Consequences of Armenian Aggression toward Azerbaijan was approved in the meeting of the Supreme Majlis of KLA on 7 July and the meeting resolved to begin collecting signatures for the document within the next few days.

 Members of the opposition Azerbaijani National Independence Party (ANIP) did not find their names in Voter’s lists. “As results of investigation we revealed that names of 35 members of the party were not included in the voters’ list,” Ali Orujyev, the chairman of the party, told Trend News on 7 July. The Central Election Commission (CEC) confirmed new voters’ list at its meeting held in May. A total of 4,834,584 voters (52% - women and 48% - men) have been included in this list. More than 4,600,000 voters were registered in voters’ list compiled in 2007.

 Issue on participation in the upcoming presidential elections caused disagreements in the oppositional Azerbaijani National Independence Party (ANIP). “I do not share the opinion of Fuad Mukhtarov, Secretary General of the party, and I am for participation in the elections,” Ali Orujov, the deputy chairman of the ANIP, told Trend News on 7 July. Mukhtarov, Secretary General of the ANIP, is for boycotting the elections. “I think Etibar Mammadov, the lieder of the ANIP, will not participate in the elections. We will more probably decide not to join the elections,” he said.

 Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany, who is on a visit to Baku, has met with Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Arthur Rasizadeh. Later the meeting of the prime ministers was continued with the participation of the delegations, APA reports. Three documents on cooperation in various fields between the two countries were signed after the negotiations.

 “It is impossible to implement Nabucco Project without Azerbaijan’s participation”, said Ferenc Gyurcsany, Foreign Minister of Hungary during his visit to Baku, APA reports. He called Azerbaijan as the main part of Nabucco Project. Ferenc Gyurcsany said 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas would be transported to Europe a year and added that Azerbaijan should be interested in taking upon the most part of the transported gas. “We hope that Azerbaijan will supply the most part of Nabucco needs”.

 Kiev will host the 3rd meeting of Azerbaijan-Ukraine Workgroup for Small and Medium-sized Businesses on July 8, said Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economic development. The meeting will discuss the creation of special economic zones, establishment of exports support mechanisms and corporate relations between small, medium-sized and large businesses, and support innovative entrepreneurship.

 Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov visited Ganja on Monday. He attended the youth meeting in Ganja within the framework of the 5th Baku Youth Forum, APA Western bureau reports. Following the meeting, the Minister made clear a number of issues related to the sport life in Ganja in his interview with the journalists. He said that the reconstruction of Kapaz Stadium was not included in the investment plan and it would be carried out by the team’s sponsors. “We would like to construct and repair the stadiums with the support of business people and sponsors”. The Minister said stadiums included in the Government’s investment plan, including Naftalan, Shaki, Zira, Buzovna, Mingachevir and Lerik stadiums were under reconstruction now.

 Secretary General of Dutch Parliament Jacqueline Biesheuvel will visit Azerbaijan today, Azerbaijani Embassy in Netherlands told APA. Biesheuvel will have meetings in MM and Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijani Republic. The visit aims to expand bilateral relations and will last till July 10.

 Prime Minister of Hungary Ferenc Gyurcsany has started his visit to Azerbaijan. The Prime Minister is attending the Azerbaijan-Hungary Business Forum in Baku, APA reports. Gyurcsany scheduled his meeting with Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Arthur Rasizadeh in the second half of the day. Energy cooperation and prospects of the development of bilateral relations will be discussed at the meetings held within the Prime Minister’s visit.
