Economic Research Center: “Inflation on foodstuffs was higher last month”Consumer Price Index rose 0.72 percent in Azerbaijan, including 0.44 percent in Baku and 1.09 percent in regions during July, according to the Economic Research Center’s report based on the Alternative Inflation Methodology Development Project.
The price rise was 0.91 percent in foodstuffs, 0.67 percent in nonfoods and 0.29 percent in services.
Price rise was 66.55 percent in greenery, 56.07 percent in melon, 21.77 percent in sugar, 14.74 percent in strawberry, 14.12 percent in cucumber, 13.25 percent in furniture, 11.99 percent in refrigerators, 2.53 percent in cycles, 14.94 percent in food service, 11.09 percent in accommodation. Price deflation was 14.75 percent in tomato, 11.28 in lemon, 11.03 in potato, 6.94 percent in peach and 4.12 percent in wheat flour.

Suleymanov noted that he would head volunteers.
“We stood in a queue for buying military dress and arms. We will leave for conflict zone tonight”, he said.

Signatures for registration of Ilham Aliyev’s presidential candidature presented to Central Election CommissionThe ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) has completed the signature collecting campaign for support and registration of Presidential candidature of the current State Head of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Party Ilham Aliyev. On 11 August, more than 40,000 signatures collected were presented to the Central Election Commission, NAP press service told TrendNews.
The presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan on 15 October. So far, a total of 11 people appealed to the Central Elections Commission (CEC) for the participation in the presidnetial elections. The chairman of the governing New Azerbaijan Party and current President Ilham Aliyev, the chairman of the Greens Party Mais Gulaliyev, the chairman of the Azerbaijani Unified Popular Front Party Gudrat Hasanguliyev, the chairman of the Muasir Musavat party Hafiz Hajiyev, the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Fuad Aliyev and the chairman of the Umid Party Igbal Agazade submitted their documents to the CEC.

Mikhail Saakashvili signs cease-fire pledge made by EU and OSCEGeorgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said Monday he had signed a cease-fire pledge proposed by envoys from the European Union.
Saakashvili said he had signed the document together with French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner and his Finnish counterpart, Alexander Stubb.
He said the EU mediators would head to Moscow later Monday to try to persuade Russia to accept the cease-fire.
