“The existence of serious discontent between the head of the Public Forum For the Name of Azerbaijan Eldar Namazov and Musavat party, as well as between the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) and Musavat cannot be denied,” Sardar Jalaloglu, the Chairman of the opposition Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (ADP), said to Trend News on 7 November.

Azerbaijani ruling party supports proportional election systemThe ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) supports restoring of proportional election system.
“It is important to restore proportional election system and to hold the parliamentary elections under mixed system alongside with majority system,” MP Siyavush Novruzov, the deputy executive secretary of the NAP, told TrendNews on 7 November.
Both proportional (list of party) and majority (single mandate) election systems were used during the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan by 2002.

Standing parliamentary commissions continue discussing 2009 draft budget in Azerbaijan   Standing commissions of Azerbaijan’s parliament Milli Majlis have today met to discuss the 2009 state draft budget bill, subsistence minimum bill, the proposed extension of tax relief for farmers and other related packages.
Samir Sharifov, Minister of Finance, briefed the participants about the budget blueprint, saying the country’s foreign exchange reserves grew by 2.4 times over the pat period of this year to $18 billion.
