Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan marks 70 million tons of crude loading70 million tons of crude oil have been pumped via Baku-Tblisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline from June 2006 to the end of 2008, said Botas International Limited, operator of Turkish segment of the pipeline. The BTC Pipeline project, which is described as the "energy project of the century", has carried about 70 million tons of Caspian oil to world markets through Turkey, said the report, quoting officials from Turkish Pipeline Corporation International Limited.

ANAMA cleared 952 689 sq.m territory of Azerbaijan from mine and UXO last year Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) cleared 925 689 sq.m territory of Azerbaijan from mine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) in December, 2008, Press Service of ANAMA told APA. 3 914 unexploded ordnance were found and neutralized. 339 workers, 5 mine clearance flail machines and 30 mine seeking dogs have been used. ANAMA has cleared 78 698 669 sq.m territory by now and 371 553 mines and unexploded ordnance have been found and neutralized. ANAMA has conducted clearing operation in Terter, Aghdam, Fuzuli, Agstafa and Sumgait.

Azerbaijani Irali public union’s organizations setting up in regions and citiesThe Azerbaijani Irali public union is setting up in regions and cities. Union’s organizations were opened in the Azizbayov and Narimanov Districts. Organizations are formed from activists of the movement Irali, who were registered in different regions and cities, through election. Members of the movement are invited to elections in every region and city. Those willing to be represented in organizations, nominate their candidatures and are elected through secret voting, the organization committee of the Irali public union on forming of region and city organizations said to Trend News.

Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission says unregistered referendum campaign groups illegalAzerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) said unregistered referendum campaign groups are illegal. “Any group campaigning on an issue related to the referendum is breaking the rules,” CEC Secretary Natig Mammadov told Trend News Jan. 7. “Campaign groups must be established to be eligible to campaign. They also must be large enough to campaign nationwide. Public TV can only allot them air time in such instances,” CEC secretary Natig Mammadov told Trend News Jan. 7.

 Mine explosions kill 61 in Azerbaijan since 2001A 925,689-square-meter area was de-mined in Azerbaijan in December 2008. During the procedures, 3,914 unexploded mines and other ammunition were uncovered, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told Trend News. Roughly 339 people, 5 mine-sweeping devices and 30 mine detector dogs were engaged in the process. A total of 78,698,669 square meters have been de-mined thus far.

Sharifov said that after NTRBC issues permission, the State Radiofrequency Office should provide those radio stations with concrete waves.

Belgian embassy to represent EU Presidency in AzerbaijanBelgian Embassy in Baku will represent EU Presidency in Azerbaijan because Czech Republic, which took over the presidency on January1, 2009, has no diplomatic mission in Baku, representation of the European Commission to Azerbaijan told APA. EU Presidency is rotated between the EU countries every six months. Czech Republic took over the EU Presidency from France and will hand it over to Sweden on July 1, 2009. Priorities of the period of Czech presidency will be economy, energy and foreign relations.
