 The International Migration Organization announced an open tender on preparation of education module for 9-11th forms within the framework of project “secondary education on contribution to prevention of human trafficking in Azerbaijan”, APA reports.

 Despite the global financial crisis, Azerbaijan will not delay its defense industry projects, the Cabinet of Ministers told APA.  Ten Azerbaijani political parties have appealed to UN Security Council, the Council of Europe, OSCE, PACE, the US President Barack Obama, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and foreign embassies in Azerbaijan, APA reports. The appeal covers Armenia with the help of Russian military units occupied Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh and 7 regions around it as a result of large-scale offensives and carried out ethnic cleansing there and over 1 million Azerbaijanis were driven out of their native lands.

 Personal representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk will report to the OSCE chairmanship about the incident took place on Thursday during the monitoring of the line of contact between the troops. The personal representative and his field assistants on both sides will come together to discuss what they saw and felt during the incident, Kasprzyk told APA exclusively.

 Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has launched its official website (www.fhn.gov.az). The website provides information about the ministry’s activity, structure and principles of operation. It also provides information on ongoing projects, regional centers, etc. The site will immediately post the statistics of emergency situations in the country.

 One more parliamentarian made a speech in Turkish parliament on the anniversary of Khojaly genocide, APA reports. Member of Parliament representing Republican People’s Party (CHP) from Izmir Janan Aritman said the atrocity in Khojaly was the black day of Azerbaijan, Turkic world and the whole mankind. She said thousands of people were atrociously killed, underwent torture within the plan of clearing Nagorno-Karabakh of Turks and establishing “Great Armenia”.

 Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee is gearing up for a population census from April 13-22, 2009. The Committee said AZN 5 460 619 ($6.8 million) was allocated from the government funds for the census. Preparation for the census has continued to progress on schedule and necessary funding and equipment have been allotted.

 A protest action was held before the Armenian embassy in Washington on the occasion of anniversary of Khojaly genocide. Nearly 30 Azerbaijanis joined the protest action, APA US bureau reports. The protesters adopted declaration where they demanded Armenian authorities to apologize to Azerbaijani people and international community for the genocide in Khojaly and to withdraw its forces from the occupied Azerbaijani lands.

 “Republicans” and “For Garabagh and Republic” agitation groups will start meetings with the voters in closed auditoriums within the framework of pre-referendum propaganda campaign. Several meetings are planned to be held in the capital and some of the regions starting from the next week, APA reports quoting head of Musavat Party Central Office Arif Hajili.

 Russia has appointed new ambassador to Azerbaijan, APA reports quoting Russia’s Foreign Ministry. Under the February 24 decree of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Dorokhin Vladimir Dmitriyevich has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russian Federation to Azerbaijan.
