 53 political parties have been officially registered in Azerbaijan. The names of the great majority of these parties are not familiar even to politicians. Most of the parties registered in Justice Ministry do not obey their Regulations, they do not even hold congresses.

 “Intensification of Karabakh talks was directed to forcing Azerbaijan to capitulator peace and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister was invited to Washington for this aim”, Karabakh Liberation Organization (KLO) said in its statement sent to APA. KLO said recently US and Russia intensified pressure on Azerbaijan trying to reach results acceptable for them and Armenia.

 State Student Admission Commission (SSAC) announced the results of the first stage of entrance examinations for the master’s level held on May 3. The commission’s press service told APA that the results had been posted on the website of SSAC.

 Draft law on amendments to state budget 2009 will enter Milli Mejlis until May 8, member of the Parliament’s Standing Commission for Economic Policy Nazim Mammadov told APA. The lawmaker said there would be active discussions for correcting the budget.

 “Baku City Executive Power was not addressed for postponing of Flower Festival on May 10”, chef of the department of Baku City Executive Power for political parties and public organizations Zaur Ramazanov told APA. He said there was no such proposal and the issue was not discussed and therefore the festival wouldn’t be postponed.

 President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received new head of OSCE Office in Baku Bilge Cankorel, the Azertaj state information agency reported. They discussed current state of and prospects for relations between Azerbaijan and OSCE.

 Global warming caused melting of glaciers in the northern region of the country. Specialists consider that about 50 percent of the glaciers melted in Guba within a century. Melting of glaciers has become intensified recently.

 Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev issued a decree approving a law on "National Strategy for the development of science in 2009-2015" and on the "State program of fulfillment of the national strategy for development of science in 2009-2015", the AzerTaj state news agency reported.
