 The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers has decided to establish a protection (buffer) zone of the Ichari Shahar (Inner City) State Historical-Architectural Reserve. Under the decision, a protection (buffer) zone of the Ichari Shahar State Historical-Architectural Reserve will be determined in accordance with the design-scheme, coordinated by the Office of the Ichari Shahar State Historical-Architectural Reserve at the Cabinet of Ministers with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Baku City Administration, State Committee of Architecture and Urban Development and Office of the Maritime Boulevard at the Cabinet of Ministers.

 President of Israel Shimon Peres plans to visit Azerbaijan late in June, Israel’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Arthur Lenk said in his interview in a website, APA reports. “I can not say exact word. But the President will likely visit Azerbaijan in the last week of June, before my tenure as an ambassador expires. This indeed is an unusual event.

 A two-day international symposium “New development tendencies and Turkic world” began at Khazar Univesrity in Baku on Friday. Rector of the Khazar University Hamlet Isakhanli said in his welcoming speech that representatives of the leading universities of Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan were participating at the symposium. The scientists will discuss the global economic crisis and integrations, Turkic world in the system of international relations, the world education system and the Turkic world, history, philosophy, religion and sociology, language, literature and culture.

 Azerbaijan will not make amendments and additions to its 2009 state budget blueprint, said Chingiz Asadullayev, Deputy Chairman of Parliamentary Commi9ssion for Economic Policy. “The bill on amendments and additions to its 2009 draft budget had been expected to come to the parliament, but this didn’t happen. This is a normal process,” he added.

 GUAM working group on economy and trade held its 9th meeting at the GUAM Secretariat in Kiev, APA reports. Ministers and other government officials of the GUAM countries, representatives of the GUAM Secretariat and USAID regional mission attended the meeting. They discussed GUAM economic and trade cooperation and realization of the GUAM field cooperation strategy and heard reports on the development of agricultural markets in GUAM countries, establishing of the united information system for agricultural production and sale and agricultural consulting services in GUAM countries.

 Oil prices closed above $65 per barrel Thursday for the first time in six months as OPEC maintained crude production levels as expected and a pair of reports suggested a slightly brighter economic picture, AP reported. Benchmark crude for July delivery added $1.63 to settle at $65.08 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

 The co-chairs of OSCE Minsk Group mediating in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict Matthew Bryza (USA), Bernard Fassier (France) and Yuri Merzlyakov (Russia) have started their visit to the region, APA reports. The mediators arrived in Baku on May 28. The diplomats told journalists at Heydar Aliyev International Airport that the aim of their visit was to arrange St. Petersburg meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents.
