The International Energy Agency, an adviser to oil-consuming nations, cut five-year forecasts for global crude demand because of the economic slump, predicting consumption won’t regain last year’s levels until 2012.  The IEA cut its oil demand estimates for every year through 2013 by about 3 million barrels a day, it said in its Medium- Term Oil Market Report today. Consumption will average 86.76 million barrels a day in 2012, the first year it will rise above 2008’s level of 85.76 million barrels a day, according to the Paris-based agency.

 Parliamentarians made a number of proposals during the next sitting of the extraordinary session of Azerbaijani parliament, APA reports. MP Nasib Nasibli offered to adopt a national program on the Karabakh problem, increase the role of the parliament in the settlement of the problem. He said the parliament should discuss the issue and pass a decision.

 Russia will buy gas from Azerbaijan at a record price - $350 per 1000 cubic meters. APA reports quoting the Kommersant that earlier Gazprom had bought gas at this price only from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Beginning from 2010, Russia will buy 500 million cubic meters gas from Azerbaijan per year, the volume of the gas will be increased in future.

 A Yemeni jetliner has crashed in the Indian Ocean off the island nation of Comoros, aviation officials in Yemen said Tuesday, APA reports quoting CNN. The jet was en route to Moroni, the capital of Comoros, from Yemen’s capital Sanaa when it crashed about an hour before reaching its destination, officials from the national airline Yemenia said.

 Informal meeting of OSCE Foreign Ministers was held in Corfu Island, Greece on June 28.
