Parliament approves Azerbaijani 2010 public budgetThe Azerbaijani parliament approved the draft forecasts on 2010 public budget, the consolidated budget and socio-economic concept for 2010 and subsequent three year by 101 votes in favor and 8 against. Under the law "On 2010 public budget", in 2010 forecasts on the public budget revenues will amount to 10.015 billion manat (31.5 percent of GDP), including centralized income - 9.552 billion manat and local revenue - 462.98 million manat, and expenses - 11.264 billion manat (35.4 percent of GDP), including centralized expenditures - 10.069 billion manat and local expenditures - 1.194 billion manat.

Azerbaijani President signs decree to transfer military men to reserve and call up for active service Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed the decree to call up for active service from Jan. 1 to 30 and to transfer military men of urgent active service to the reserve, the AzerTaj state news agency said. All Azerbaijani citizens born from 1975 to 1991 and aged under 35 years, without a right for draft deferment in the armed forces and other armed units envisaged by the legislation are called up for active service from Jan. 1 to 30, 2009 upon the decree in accordance with the law 'Foundations of call-up for military service in the Azerbaijani Republic' to recruit armed forces and other armed units envisaged by the legislation.

Russian president meets Azerbaijani counterpart at Ulyanovsk airport Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived to Ulyanovsk today. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev met the head of state at the airport, RIA Novosti reported. Both presidents will hold a short round of talks in Ulyanovsk and discuss urgent issues of mutual cooperation, as well as international problems, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The presidents will also lay a wreath on a monument to Azerbaijani ex-President Heydar Aliyev in a city square of the same name.

Azerbaijani oil prices ups on Nov. 23On Nov. 23 the price of AZERI LT CIF Augusta was $79.76 per barrel or $2.26 per barrel up, compared to the previous day's price, according to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), which has produced Light Oil since 1997. Azeri Light oil is produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli offshore fields, which is developed under BP's operations. It is directly delivered to the Turkish port of Ceyhan via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export oil pipeline, to the Georgian port of Supsa via the Baku-Supsa pipeline and to the Georgian port of Batumi by railway.

Armenian Armed Forces break ceasefireOn Nov. 20, the Armenian Armed Forces opened fire at Azerbaijani troops from the Vosgepar village in the Armenian Noyanberyan region to the Ashagi Asgipara village in the Gazakh region at 10:30-10:45, as well as from areas and the positions near the Tapgaragoyunlu village in the Goranboy region at 15.45-16:00. Further the Armenian Armed Forces opened fire at Azerbaijani troops from areas and the positions near the Marzili and Sarijali villages in the Agdam region at 19:00-19:10 and at 01:05 -01:10 on Nov.21, and from areas and the positions near the Garakhanbayli village in the Fizuli region at 21:00-21:15 on Nov.20, as well as from the positions near the Gizil Oba village in the Tartar region at 01:35-02:00 on Nov.21.

Swine flu patient to be discharged: hospital The only swine flu patient still receiving treatment at the Azerbaijani Lung Diseases Research Institute may be discharged today, Chief Physician Khayyam Mammadov said today. "The patient was completely cured of the A/H1N1 virus, but continues to receive treatment for bilateral pneumonia and other complications," he added.
