 The Parliament of Azerbaijan created conditions better than in Armenia for the activities of the journalists. "The situation in Azerbaijan for the parliamentary journalists is relatively better compared to the situation in Kazakhstan, and even in Estonia," noted on Dec. 18 at an event held at the initiative of the Association of Impartial Journalists with the support of Fund of State Support to Media Development under the Azerbaijani President.

 Dec.17, the price of AZERI LT CIF Augusta was $73.84 per barrel, or $1.85 per barrel down, compared to the previous day's price, according to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), which has produced Light Oil since 1997. Azeri Light oil is produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli offshore fields, which is developed under BP's operations. It is directly delivered to the Turkish port of Ceyhan via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export oil pipeline, to the Georgian port of Supsa via the Baku-Supsa pipeline and to the Georgian port of Batumi by railway.

 The work on the organization of the Azerbaijani Diaspora is almost complete and it is time to pass to practical work, State Diaspora Committee Chairman Nazim Ibrahimov said. "We must pass to action and this requires maximum effort from the Diaspora," Ibrahimov said at the news conference on the results of the State Committee's activities in 2009 today.

 Azerbaijan deported 598 foreigners illegally residing in the country in 2009, Azerbaijani Interior Ministry Department for Combating Illegal Migration head Yasar Agayev said. According to the official, 135 were identified by the State Migration Service, 318 by the Department for Combating Illegal Migration, 28 by the Prison Service, 104 by the the police, 14 by the National Security Ministry and 14 by the other governmental bodies.

 Azerbaijan loses the credibility in the OSCE Minsk Group mediating in the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijani Parliamentary Deputy Speaker Bahar Muradova said. "The OSCE Minsk Group has stated its position only in separate stages of the negotiations," she said. "However, its representatives have always refrained from expressing an opinion in connection with the actions of members of this group."

 The prices for consumer goods and tariffs for services in November increased by 1.3 percent compared with October 2009 and 1.5 percent over 11 months compared to January-November last year, the State Statistics Committee said on Dec. 15.

 Azerbaijani Ambassador to Washington Yashar Aliyev presented the official protest note in connection with the U.S. Congress's decision to allocate $8 million to the Nagorno-Karabakh.
