Prosecutor General's Office: Number of corruption-related cases increased in Azerbaijan in 2009A number of criminal cases have been sent to court due to corruption rise in Azerbaijan in 2009. In 2009 there have been 23 more cases, compared to the previous year, filed to the Department on Combating Corruption at the Prosecutor General's Office, Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov said at a meeting on 2009 results.
According to Garalov, 103 bribe cases, abuse of power, official forgery, abuse of official duties and other crimes have been sent to the Serious Crimes Court.
In 2009, 41 management corruption of state and municipal property offense appeals have been received, Garalov said.
Seventy four corruption cases were revealed in Azerbaijani armed forces in 2009./Trend/
