 The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) will provide all of the country's gas users with electronic meters outfitted with smart cards within three years. SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev told Trend said there were roughly 1.2 million gas users in the country as of Sept. 1.

 Sept.1, the price of AZERI LT CIF Augusta was $77.64 per barrel or $0.26 per barrel more, compared to the previous day's price, according to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), which has produced Light Oil since 1997.

 The UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) says that world food prices have risen to their highest level in two years, BBC News reported. It says the increase is due partly to a drought in Russia and to government export restrictions which have brought about a surge in the price of wheat.

 Azerbaijani Chamber of Auditors will attend the 2nd conference of Balkan and Near East countries about “Audit and formed accounting culture from past to today” on September 14-18, Istanbul. According to chamber the conference is held by the organizing of Association of Accounting and Finance Academicians (AAFA), Turkey. Near 550 participants from 40 countries will attend the conference.

 Rising of wheat price in the world market did not have an impact on the rising of bread price in Azerbaijan, head of Azerbaijan’s State Service for Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economic Development Zahid Isayev informed.

 Azerbaijan has the second highest basic pension in the CIS. The basic pension is currently $106, State Social Protection Fund Chairman Salim Muslimov told media today. The basic pension is $124.20 in Kazakhstan, $90.20 in Russia, $82.10 in Belarus.

 The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry's Azeryolservis announced a tender today as part of a project to improve the Southern Transport Corridor. The tender includes reconstructing a section of the Masalli-Astara Highway. The reconstruction activities will be conducted at the expense of funds received from the Asian Development Bank.

 The price of oil marked in the 2011 state budget could reach $60 per barrel, Azerbaijani Deputy Finance Minister Azer Bayramov told Trend today. "Based on the Economic Development Ministry's forecasts in August, the price per barrel in next year's budget will reach $60," he said.

 Light, sweet crude oil for October delivery settled 47 cents, or 0.6%, lower at $74.70 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Wall Street Journal reported. Brent crude oil on the ICE Futures exchange settled down 5 cents at $76.60 a barrel, with trading light due to a bank holiday in the United Kingdom.

 The decreasing plan of associated gas in SOCAR’s Operating Companies and Joint Enterprises discussed in the Ecology Department of SOCAR with the support WB’s Global Gas Flaring Reduction partnership (GGFR). SOCAR says representatives of WB, SOCAR’s Ecology Department, Azneft PU, Operation Companies and Joint Enterprises attended the discussion.

 The Trans-Caspian Oil Transport System (TCOTS) for transportation of Kazakh oil through Azerbaijan will be put into operation in late 2012 - early 2013 with development of the Kashagan field, Kazakh Ambassador to Azerbaijan Serik Primbetov said at the news conference today.

 Total deposits of individuals to the member-banks of the Azerbaijan Deposit Insurance Fund (ADIF) amounted to 2.484 billion manat in the second quarter, of which 818,577 million manat was not insured, but 1.665 billion manat was insured, the Fund reported today.

 Azerbaijan has increased gas supplies to Turkey up to 16 million cubic meters a day, a source in the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) said. Previously, daily volume of Azerbaijani gas deliveries to Turkey amounted to 13-14 million cubic meters.

 The State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Protection under the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry revealed and destroyed 430 kilograms of expired products during the regular monitoring of the consumer market, the ministry said.

 CJSC Azerbaijani Railways got income worth 82.3 million from providing services and transportation of freight and passengers in January-June, the head of CJSC, Arif Asgarov said in an interview with Republic newspaper. He said 70.9 million manat of total amount received in the first half-year fell to freight transportation, remaining 111.4 million manat to passenger transportation.

 About 163.23 million barrels of oil were transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline via Turkey in January-July 2010 compared to over 165.1 million barrels in January-July 2009, a statement posted on the official website of the Botas Turkish state pipeline company said. In July, 27.34 million barrels of oil were transported via the BTC through Turkey compared to about 25.6 million barrels in July of 2009.

 CJSC Ekol muhendislik xidmetleri removed 22,000 cubic meters of oil sludge from industrial areas of the Bakahanineft Oil and Gas Production Department of SOCAR within the bioremediation project, the Company said. Also Ekol transported about 23,000 cubic meters of lands within this project.

 Iranian gas supply to Turkey, which was stopped as a result of a blast in natural gas pipeline, will be resumed after 7-8 days, the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said Aug.25 after meeting with the Syrian Ambassador in Ankara Nidal Kabalan, Anadolu news agency reports. A heavy blast took place in a gas pipeline, transporting natural gas from Iran to Turkey in Tuesday evening in Eleshkirt in the Turkish province of Agri.

 Ways of gas supply for the Nabucco project will be determined by the end of the year, Minister of energy and natural resources of Turkey Taner Yildiz said on Wednesday after meeting with Syrian Ambassador Nydal Kabalan, Anadolu news agency reported.
