Iran set date of drilling of first exploration well in the Caspian

Iran will launch drilling of its first exploration well in the Caspian Sea Feb.11, Iran's Deputy Oil Minister Seyfulla Jashnsaz was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency. The well will be drilled through the Amir Kabir (former Iran-Alborz) platform. Preparatory work in connection with drilling of the first exploratory well has been completed.
He said necessary equipment to drill two exploratory wells in the Caspian is ready. The Amir Kabir platform was established in its place. "I hope that drilling of the first well will be lauched Feb.11 on the 31 anniversary of the Iranian Islamic revolution," he said.
He said that Iran greed with an Asian company to drill exploratory wells in the Caspian.
