Iran's parliament issued a letter to parliament's speaker Ali Larijani, for inviting country's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for questioning regarding the subsidy reform plan, Fars reported. The plan, launched in December 2010, allows the Iranian government to gradually slash subsidies on fuel, electricity and certain goods over the course of five years, with low-income families being compensated with direct cash hand-outs.

Turkey is open to foreign investments and is doing everything to create prosperous environment for foreign investors, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during his speech at the Turkish-Chinese Business Forum in Beijing, TRT Haber TV channel reported on Tuesday. "Turkey always welcomes foreign investments and supports their growth," Erdogan said. He also said that the country has made some changes to the tax system, and will continue to work to improve it in order to attract more foreign investors.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov has approved the composition of the Turkmen-French intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, an official Turkmen source said on Tuesday. According to the document, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers (Deputy Prime Minister) in charge of the construction sector, energy and industry, Akmurad Egeleev has been appointed as co-chairman from the Turkmen side.

Georgia and Kazakhstan will discuss a wide range of issues in several spheres during the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Kazakh-Georgian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, the Georgian Economy Ministry told Trend on Monday. The commission meeting will be held in Tbilisi on April 9-10. Within the meeting it is planned to consider bilateral cooperation in trade, transport, fuel and energy complex, legal framework, environmental protection, agriculture and tourism.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast said on Friday that efforts should be made to prevent the "strategic" relations between Iran and Turkey from being damaged, MNA reported. Speaking to reporters, Mehmanparast said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran and the country of Turkey, as two powerful and influential countries in the region that have many historical, cultural, and religious affinities, have a strategic relationship and have common policies toward most of political and international issues."

Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Cicek Cemil said Ankara can freeze relations with the European Union, Sabah newspaper reported. "If the presidency of the EU is given to Cyprus, Ankara's relations with the EU may be frozen," Cicek said. South Cyprus is expected to chair the EU from July 1. Turkey-EU cooperation began with the Ankara agreement signed in 1964. The EU announced that the Copenhagen criteria set in 2002 is the key to Turkey's EU membership.
