«ELS» Independent Research Centre will hold a roundtable “Azerbaijan municipality system: on the plane of realities and problems” dedicated to the improvement of municipalities’ work on March 2, 2009 at 12:00-13:00 in the conference room of “Caspian Plaza” hotel (address: J.Jabbarli str. 44).
Authorized officials of Presidential Administration, Parliament, Ministry of Justice, Executive Power and municipalities, representatives of the local NGOs, international organizations and mass media will participate at the event. The aim of the event is to discuss the present condition, problems of the municipalities, causes of their origin and the ways out. The results of the monitoring held by the Centre with regard to this issue and package of proposals in the direction of problem solution will be presented at the roundtable. The programme of the roundtable is as follows:
1. Real condition of Azerbaijani municipalities and economic development problems (Vugar Tofigli, expert);
2. Municipalities – authorities, duties, achievements (monitoring results) (Irada Yagubova)
3. Speeches on the topic
The aim of the activity of “ELS” Independent Research Centre is to assist in elimination of the problems that the Azerbaijani civil society faces by conducting scientific, sociological and other researches and by doing this to inform the world society on positive development achievements of our country. “Exit-poll” and “quick count” researches conducted by the employees of the Centre at the elections held in our country can be mentioned as an example.
