Azerbaijan`s Foreign Ministry: COP29 Truce receives support from the Non-Aligned Movement

All member states of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) supported the COP29 Truce announced on 21 September, the date marked as the International Day of Peace, under the Azerbaijan`s Presidency of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Azerbaijan`s Foreign Ministry reported.

Currently, 127 countries have joined the initiative. The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness about the importance of the communication between the conflict and the climate change, and seek a collective solution for protecting the most vulnerable groups while also promoting positive momentum and cooperation that can foster peace between nations.

The appeal requests all parties to observe a truce during November, when the COP will be held, and expresses the confidence that in light of the fundamental message of COP 29, the humanity will be able to cope with political problems and to consolidate.

“The ‘call for a global truce’ in addition to support from states, has received backing from more than a thousand representatives of international institutions, private sector, civil society, and influential public figures.
