Azerbaijani FM meets with OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media

Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov has met with the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Harlem Désir on the sidelines of the 25th OSCE Ministerial Council in Milan.

The OSCE commitments to freedom of media and expression, as well as the issues of common interest were the key subjects of discussion. The sides discussed prospects for current cooperation between Azerbaijan and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media and possible steps to be taken in this regard.

They also exchanged views on impact of new technologies on developments in freedom of media and expression. Pointing to the developments on freedom of expression and media Minister Elmar Mammadyarov emphasized that 80 per cent of the country’s population are internet users.
