Baku hosted official opening of 9th Azerbaijan-Russia Interregional Forum

The National Youth Forum “Agenda 2030: Focus on the Environment” has been held at Baku Convention Centre.

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Union, Goodwill Ambassador of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Leyla Aliyeva attended the Forum.

Organized on World Environment Day, the aim of the event is to raise awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among youth with an emphasis on environmental aspects, and increase young people`s role in implementing Agenda 2030 through encouraging them to become SDGs ambassadors.

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Union, FAO Goodwill Ambassador Leyla Aliyeva addressed the opening ceremony.

Other speakers at the event included Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, UN Resident Coordinator a.i. in Azerbaijan Edward Carwardine and Director of IDEA Animal Care Center Surkhay Shukurov.

UN Secretary-General on World Environment Day addressed the Forum through video conference.

The Forum continued with panel meetings.
