The NGO Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan (ACSDA) proposed increasing the number of seats in parliament today.

“The number of voters has increased compared to previous years,” ACSDA Electoral Staff Chief Maharram Zulfugarli said at a news briefing. “Therefore, it would be advisable to increase the number of deputies to meet the number of voters in the regions.”

Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for Nov. 7.

The ACSDA is implementing a program to improve electoral legislation and practices to achieve greater transparency. The association plans to monitor the parliamentary elections this year.

The ACSDA has already completed the program’s first phase.
