The 11th Vugar Hashimov Memorial, commemorating the late Azerbaijani grandmaster and European champion Vugar Hashimov, will today kick off in the city of Khankendi.

Azerbaijan’s Rauf Mammadov and Aydin Suleymanli, as well as prominent grandmasters including Ian Nepomniachtchi (FIDE), Amin Tabatabaei (Iran), Vladimir Fedoseev (Slovenia), and Nodirbek Yakubboev (Uzbekistan) will compete in rapid and blitz programs.

Organized by the Vugar Hashimov Chess Foundation, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, the Vugar Hashimov Memorial 2025 will run until December 11.
