The Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan (ACSDA) started events within the project on delivering truths about Garadagli tragedy with the help of the Council of State Assistance to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The purpose of the project is to investigate the facts about tragedy of Garadagli village and widely to spread the truths on the tragedy.
ASCDA realized one of such big projects in 2006. That year the Association started mass campaign of collecting signatures with the claim of recognizing Khojaly genocide in the international world and collected signatures of one million Azerbaijani citizens. The Association published a book named “Khojaly Genocide” (in documents, facts, and in foreign press) in Azerbaijani, English, and Russian which reflects historical truths on the basis of all these materials and sent it to various addresses. The e-book version placed in www.avciya.az.
It is intended to hold seminar in 5 regions and publish a book named “Garadagli tragedy of Khojavand” within the new project called the “Organization of investigation and educational activities in order to deliver the truths about tragedy of Garadagli village of Khojavand region to the world and publishing a book on the basis of investigation materials in Azerbaijani and English and sending them to the international organizations and the parliaments of different countries”. It is planned to hold a presentation ceremony of the book with the participation of state institutions, municipalities, local NGOs, international organizations, Mass Media and public representatives. Besides, the book will be translated into the English language in autumn and sent to different countries.
The first event was held in the office of “Human Rights Resource Center on Guba-Khachmaz region” in Khachmaz city within the frame of the project. Information about the collected materials related to the Garadagli tragedy was given to the participants of the event. The next event will be held in Shirvan, Lankaran, Zagatala, and Sumgayit cities.
