AVCIYA, ELS Announce Final Results of Exit-Poll in Azerbaijan’s Presidential Election

AVCIYA (Association for Civil Society Development Assistance) and ELS Independent Studies Center announced final results of the exit-poll they conducted jointly in Azerbaijan’s presidential election.

According to exit-poll conducted in 800 polling stations, Ilham Aliyev, current President and candidate from ruling party, won 82.6% of votes.

Chairman of Umid Party Igbal Agazade ranks second with 5% of votes.

According to exit-poll, Gulamhuseyn Alibayli gained 3.58%, Fuad Aliyev – 1.23%, Hafiz Hajiyev – 0.98%, Gudrat Hasanguluyev – 4.21% and Fazil Gazanfaroglu – 2.4%.

According to the preliminary CEC results, Ilham Aliyev has gained 89.04 of votes.

The presidential election was held in Azerbaijan on 15 October.

Seven candidates were running for presidency at the 15 October presidential elections including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of Ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party, Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party, Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party, Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.

According to CEC preliminary results, Igbal Agazade gained 2.78%, Fazil Gazanfaroglu – 2.40%, Gudrat Hasanguliyev – 2.22%, Gulamhuseyn Alibayli – 2.18%, Fuad Aliyev – 0.75% and Hafiz Hajiyev – 0.62%.

A total of 1,233 international observers from about 60 countries monitored election. The largest monitoring missions account for Council of Europe, OSCE and CIS.
